While this list is not fully inclusive, these are shelters and rescues that SD Caring for Canines is supporting. Please consider donating directly and voting for them on mygivingcircle.org. All shelters and rescues we support are personally vetted by us to ensure their legitimacy.

What is mygivingcircle.org you may ask? MyGivingCircle is a free platform where people can vote for their favorite charities to help them win a share of grant funding. WAR PAWS Erbil Iraq

War Paws provides much needed rescue and support to the forgotten animals of war in Iraq and other areas where animals have been affected as a result of war or civil conflict. We operate a shelter in Iraq which currently has over 500 dogs in residence, we also reunite serving soldiers with the cats and dogs they have befriended whilst serving in war zones. We also operate the first education program for children in the region and we attend the schools who run food drive programs for us and we talk to the children about how to be safe around dogs and help us to raise awareness. As well as our work at the shelter in Iraq we are currently caring for many that were rescued from the War in Ukraine. The dogs are safe at a shelter in Romania where they all their needs are taken care of whilst we look to find perfect forever homes for all of them. Without us to fight for them many of these animals would live short lives and be subjected to horrific cruelty, starvation, injuries and illness, they would never know the feeling of going to sleep at night with a full belly and waking in the morning without fear of what the day will bring.

KSAR Kabul Small Animal Rescue

Kabul Small Animal Rescue is a veterinary clinic and animal shelter in Afghanistan working to help animals in need. KSAR provides routine care for owned animals as well as medical care and shelter to injured and orphaned street animals. We also find loving homes for homeless pets by providing adoption services both in Afghanistan and abroad. The majority of our patients and residents are dogs and cats, but we have also treated and provided sanctuary for livestock, birds, rabbits, and tortoises. We look after these animals so that they are safe and cared for.

Mission K9 Rescue

Mission K9 Rescue is based in Houston, Texas. We are a recognized 501(c)3 Charitable Organization by the IRS, founded in 2013.We provide assistance and support for Working Dogs worldwide. Our organization’s purpose for existence is to serve retiring and retired Military Working Dogs, Contract Working Dogs, and other Dogs who Served as they may fit into our mission and scope. As of December 2023, we have rescued over 1300 working dogs from every corner of the world. We’ve reunited over 686 working dogs with former handlers and paid over $2 million in veterinary care for these hero dogs! 93 cents out of every dollar donated goes to our dogs – No wasted funding – Give with confidence!
