RAPID CITY, S.D. – On July 6 and 7, Braeburn Dog Park in Rapid City became a hub of activity as a local organization raised money for dogs in need.
South Dakota Caring for Canines is a non-profit organization that aims to provide rescue, shelter and veterinary care for abused and neglected dogs through fundraising efforts. The organization has set up a booth at the park to sell homemade dog treats and toys, with all proceeds going to support shelters that require assistance.
“We support a variety of shelters, first and foremost locally and globally, shelters that are struggling beyond measure,” explained Eva Gallant, founder of South Dakota Caring for Canines. “I consider myself a small link in a rather large chain because the biggest endeavor is to bring about awareness.”
The group extends its support to shelters within South Dakota, as well as those in war-torn areas and Romania. Gallant says that the four shelters they are raising funds for are:
- WAR PAWS Erbil Iraq
- KSAR Kabel Small Animal Rescue
- Mission K9 Rescue
- Save Them All Rescue Service from Hot Springs.
In addition to selling treats and toys, the organization is holding a raffle on July 7. Tickets are just $5, and the prizes include handmade pillows.
The table will be at Braeburn Dog Park from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on July 7. You can find more information about the organization on the official South Dakota Caring for Canines website. There you can also donate if you missed out on the fundraiser.
The organization will host another fundraising event on July 27 at Petco in Rapid City from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Another raffle will be held then as well.
